Liz McGrath just had an exhibit and so much more titled Tears of the Crocodile, in Barcelona and let me tell you – it’s magical.

Sometimes you can’t help but hate your job; sometimes you can’t help but love your job.
The latter seems to be poignantly correct with my current jobs.

The auction house I work for, Bonhams & Butterfields, had an auction just this past Sunday. As per usual they had some amazing pieces, however it was this one that happened to catch my attention. This iconic piece was sold off for $2,700. Bob seems to still have that magic touch.

Or is it kids?
Right.

As I’m discovering how much I love pen and ink I seem to be rediscovering how much I love animals. I’ll be throwing up some more work on my flickr just as soon as I my scanner stops giving me the cold shoulder.

Until then, feed this guy some treats.

APRIL 77 – a favorite of mine – has the first ever online exhibit of his sketchings and scrawlings. I personally am a fan of pen and ink. Maybe you are too. Take a gander at their gallery and you may just find out.

Dark Roast Blend has a lovely post about the art of carving up books. Part of me wants to cry when I think of butchering up a could be literary gem; I would say that feeling quickly resides when I see these amazing works that were created from them.

In the photo above Brian Dettmer creates a foss-ilized book; or rather a books-ilized fossil.

Well I didn’t… and might I further add I have not forgotten many a thing;

It’s really quite complicated.

Right, so let’s concentrate on what I haven’t forgotten and give me something to write.

Babar! That is one name I soon wont forget.
There is currently an exhibit of original drawings by Laurent de Brunhoff, the creator of the fantastical little elephant. Seeing as this is at The Morgan Library and Museum in New York it’s quite the trek for me across this vast country – Kerouac would agree as much. However, I know of many a man and woman going to CMJ… why not take a little peak at your childhood?

If I continue to read Mrs. Parker I’m afraid I’ll fall into what some may consider an abyss.

There’s no implication that those words will come.
But sometimes, in the right moment, they do -

I think that’s the way with all things.
Unless you put forth how is anything to come about?
Whether it is art, poetry or even love.
Are not all things just looking for a way to exist?
It’s a dreadful thought when it comes down to it.
And yet… the simplicity of it can hold such elegance.

I implore you, be done with it!
Be done with merely existing.
Because really…
aren’t we all young enough?

And they say drunk art is rubbish.
I say it’s thought provoking.
Don’t usually write much – and now I have.
